Sanei N73, 7" Android tablet Review

The power connector it is intermittent (disconnects at the slightest touch). Partly (probably) because one can't get the power connector further in than this. One really has to check that the charging symbol on the screen comes on. Otherwise you may end up with a totally dead device when you need it.

The US-to-europlug-adapter also intermittent. These two intermittent connector creates a nightmare when you try to charge the device, the slightest touch of either the charger or the device may cause it to stop charging.

Negative Criticism

• Marketed as 1.5 GHz on the box, but according to the apps "Quadrant", "Android System Info" and "Antutu" the Max CPU speed is 1008 MHz.
  • When I contact the seller about this, they reply that "different apps use different algorithm" and insist that it is 1.5 GHz.
    • I googled "does quadrant report wrong frequency" and "does Antutu report wrong frequency" and can't find anything about that.
    • When I use the apps on other devices they seem to report the correct frequency. (see below)
    • As far as I know the algorithm is f=n/t where:
      • f: frequency
      • t: time
      • n: number of clock cycles within t
    • I'd like to know what algorithm they use.
    • I'd like to know if there is any app that uses the algorithm they are using to get the 1.5GHz result.
  • A few months later I discover that the information on the box about the clock speed is on a sticker. If one removes the sticker, it says behind: "1.2GHz".
  • One can also search the internet for specifications of the RK2928 processor used. One then finds that the processor come in versions with two frequencies: either 1 GHz or 1.2 GHz.
• Screen touches are off by like 5mm at the edges. Ex: lets say you "click" 5mm from the edge, then the "click" is registered 10mm from the edge, which means that you "missed" what you clicked on. Really annoying.
• Two!!! parts of the power connection that is intermittent:
  • Between device and cable
  • Between US to europlug adapter
• Just using a US-to-europlug defeats the safety features of the europlug. Especially since the plug stays in the socket when you pull the power-adaptor out.
• Can't get it to work with Apples wifi-networks. (normal wifi-networks seem to work great)
• Sort of a click sound whenever a sound begins to play. (Annoying if you have sounds for key presses for example)

Positive Criticism

• One can use the device upside down if you want. (Quite convenient if you for example have the power cable going out that way)
• Works great to see video on.

Remains to check

• Can one install Vanilla android like for example Cyanogenmod ???
